In what a source close to his campaign is billing as a first in political advertising, openly gay San Francisco mayoral candidate Bevan Dufty has released a campaign ad featuring his five-year-old daughter.
In the 30-second spot, Dufty rides San Francisco’s Muni with daughter Sidney. It’s the first time an openly gay candidate has featured their child in a television ad.
The spot was produced by Democratic ad guru Mark Putnam, who worked on President Obama’s 2008 media effort. Putnam produced the 30-minute Obama ad that aired in primetime just days before the ’08 election.
