The first set of polling on Obama’s nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court are in, and they give fodder to both sides. In a poll conducted on Tuesday night, the same day Obama announced the nomination, Gallup found a general positive opinion. A Rasumussen telephone poll, meanwhile, that had fewer options—one could favor or not favor her confirmation, but not by degrees—showed a fairly high contingent not agreeing, and conservative media is already taking note.
