Consultants weigh heavily whether potential clients can pay their bills before deciding to take an effort on, but in some cases make the wrong choice and have to use a unique playbook to get overdue invoices paid.
In fact, it’s not just self-funders who give consultants headaches when it comes to settling up. C&E’s inaugural State of the Campaign Industry Survey, conducted by PSB Research, found that 54 percent of consultants consider a client’s ability to raise money and pay his or her bills a “very important” factor when deciding to take on a race—more important than the policy goals or political beliefs of the client.
