Blue State’s launch of a campaign practice this week has the potential to change the established model for consulting firms on the left.
Typically, shops don’t actively recruit candidates to run — particularly shops that are as large as Blue State, which was bought by advertising giant WPP back in 2010 following its digital work for the 2008 Obama campaign. But the practitioners leading the newly unveiled Blue State Campaigns say they’ll be actively scouting for political talent while adopting an “activist-first, consultant-second” approach.
