Purple Strategies hires ex-Bush, Obama advisors for New England office

Purple Strategies is expanding into New England and bringing on two New Hampshire consultants. True to the firm’s bi-partisan focus, they’ve hired a strategist from each party.

Former Bush family advisor Patrick Griffin, who is the CEO of GY&K Marketing, the largest advertising, strategic communications, and integrated marketing firm in Northern New England, will join the firm together with 2008 Obama campaign advisor Jim Demers, who’s a former state lawmaker and president and CEO of Concord-based Demers & Blaisdell, Inc.

“Jim and Pat are widely-known and well-regarded for their business and political acumen,” Steve McMahon, a founding partner at the firm, tells C&E in an email. “We couldn’t be happier that they are joining the Purple Strategies team, and heading up our new offering in New England.”

They’ll work out of the firm’s Boston office, which is slated to open Jan. 15.

“After Purple’s successful growth in Chicago, we took a look at where we needed to grow to best serve our Fortune 500 client base,” Alex Castellanos, chairman and founding partner of Purple Strategies, said in a statement. “With the impact of the healthcare, technology, energy and financial sectors, we knew New England was the right move. And we are thrilled to welcome Pat and Jim with their wealth of experience to lead this expansion.”

Both consultants are happy to be on board.

“Launching Purple Strategies New England along with my old friend Pat is an exciting next step,” stated Demers. “We are thrilled to join this exceptional team of smart, insightful professionals and look forward to making a mark for Purple in the region.”

“I have long admired the level of high quality insight and creativity that I’ve seen from Purple Strategies,” said Griffin, who also does corporate consulting. “Jim and I are looking forward to being a part of a team that is constantly adapting and growing to meet client needs here in New England, across the country and around the world.”

Purple Strategies New England becomes the firm’s fourth office with the others located in Chicago, which opened last April, Houston and Washington, D.C.
