Joe Fuld had been working for other people for almost ten years when he decided to strike out on his own. But his advice for other people from the campaign world who are thinking of starting their own business is unequivocal: “Running political campaign firms is very different from running a business,” he said. “You have to think about how you will surround yourself with people who understand businesses.”
In that process, Fuld cautions against assuming you’ll be good at one just because you are good at the other.
