John Hill was a public school teacher and very active in Dallas, TX school board races when he decided to launch a political firm. For him, the decision was all about maximizing impact. As Hill put it, “I felt I could have a larger impact on education if I leaned into politics and elections and focused on school board races and other elected positions full time.”
Reflecting on his experience launching and operating Deinde Group as a person of color, Hill said that while “quality work is quality work… because the space was dominated for so long by people that don’t, quite frankly, look like us, getting those paid opportunities in campaigns can be very difficult.”
